At Sarah Tremain, sustainability is not just a value; it's a lifestyle, and clothing mending is a crucial part of this ethos. In a world where fast fashion promotes waste and disposability, mending provides a thoughtful and practical solution to extend the life of your garments. Whether patching up a beloved pair of jeans or hemming a dress for the perfect fit, mending reduces waste and preserves the stories woven into each piece of clothing.

Last year, we began integrating mending services more frequently, offering custom repairs and alterations to help our Philadelphia clients breathe new life into their favorite items. From adjusting the fit to adding custom fabric panels for extended sizing, mending at Sarah Tremain goes beyond repairs; it’s about extending the life of cherished clothing.

Visible Mending

We are excited to expand our mending services into the West Philly community by introducing a convenient drop-off/ pick-up point at the Manzanita Vintage Shop, at 42nd and Baltimore Ave! This partnership allows you to drop off clothing items that need mending—whether a pair of jeans with holes, a hem that needs fixing, or a button that has popped off. You can even drop off items while shopping at the vintage shop, making it easy to keep your wardrobe timeless and functional.

To use the service, visit Manzanita, drop your items in the mending basket in the store, and fill out the form available at the shop or on our website. Services typically have a two-week turnaround. When your items are ready for pickup, you will receive an email notification, along with an invoice for the service.

By choosing to mend your clothing instead of discarding it, you are making a significant contribution to reducing textile waste and fostering a more sustainable future. Sarah Tremain is thrilled to make this service accessible and easy for our West Philly neighbors, and we look forward to helping you keep your favorite clothes in rotation for years to come.
