Upcycled Custom Wedding Dress
Upcycled Custom Wedding Dress
Sustainable. Personal. Deeply Yours.
Create a wedding dress that already has a story, and make it your own.
Sarah Tremain’s Upcycled Custom Wedding Dress experience transforms thrifted gowns, family heirlooms, and existing garments into one-of-a-kind wedding dresses rooted in sustainability, care, and self-expression.
Our work for this service has been featured in the New York Times, but the heart of this process lives quietly in the studio, through listening, collaboration, and slow, intentional making.
You don’t need to know exactly what you want yet.
You just need curiosity, openness, and a willingness to co-create.
This experience may be right for you if:
- You want a sustainable alternative to traditional bridal fashion
- You have a thrifted dress, heirloom, or meaningful garment you’re drawn to
- Traditional bridal shopping feels overwhelming, alienating, or rushed
- You care about comfort, fit, and emotional resonance, not trends
This is not fast fashion.
This is fashion with memory, intention, and breath.
How the Process Works
Step 1: A grounding conversation
We begin with a one-hour consultation to talk through your ideas, timeline, values, and budget range. This is a low-pressure space to explore what’s possible.
Step 2: Choosing the right level of support
You don’t have to decide everything upfront. Based on your needs, we’ll determine the best pathway forward together.
Step 3: Designing and transforming your dress
Through fittings, thoughtful upcycling, and collaborative design, your dress slowly becomes what it’s meant to be, on your body, in your life.

Why Choose Upcycled Custom Wedding Dresses
This service is for brides who want more than off-the-rack options. It’s ideal if you’re searching for a one-of-a-kind gown, wish to preserve the sentiment of a family piece, or want your wedding look to embody sustainability. Each step is guided with care, craftsmanship, and creativity.
Why It Costs What it Does
Why It Costs What it Does
At Sarah Tremain, we believe in transparency. Each upcycled wedding dress is priced using our core formula: the cost of raw materials, plus direct labor at forty-five dollars an hour, plus thirty-five percent for studio and administrative overhead, then multiplied by two to three to reach a fair retail price.
Because every gown is handcrafted, pricing also reflects the time and collaboration required. From sourcing fabrics and thrifting together, to fittings and design revisions, each stage is carefully planned to honor both your vision and the craftsmanship involved.
Tier 1: The Eco Starter begins at $600 for simpler transformations using thrifted pieces or existing garments.
Tier 2: The Timeless Transformation begins at $1500, covering deeper customization, heirloom upcycling, and a more involved design process.
Tier 3: The Dream Dress Experience begins at $3000 and includes the most comprehensive services — multiple fittings, unlimited design revisions, luxury fabric sourcing, and a fully bespoke process.
Final pricing may vary based on materials chosen and the time needed for alterations or design complexity. We share this openly because your gown is not only an investment in your special day, but also in sustainability, living wages, and the creative community that supports this work.
