Every garment has the potential to carry meaning. Whether you want to rework an heirloom, design a signature look, or transform an idea into fabric, the Custom Clothing Consultation is where it begins. At Sarah Tremain, custom work is a collaborative process — blending your vision with sustainable design and intentional craftsmanship to create a garment that’s truly one of a kind.
How It Works
How It Works
Your consultation is a 30-minute one-on-one session with Sarah at the studio (or virtually). Together, you’ll discuss fit, fabric, and style, review any garments or inspiration you bring, and map out the design possibilities. After the session, you’ll receive a project scope and a custom quote.
A $200 deposit secures your consultation and is applied to the final cost of your piece. Custom garments typically take at least two months to complete, depending on complexity and studio capacity. Simpler projects may take 2–3 months, while more intricate designs require 3–4 months or longer. If your garment is for a special event, please let us know your deadline during the consultation so we can plan accordingly.
Why It Costs What it Does
Why It Costs What it Does
We believe in transparent pricing. Every custom garment is calculated using the Sarah Tremain formula: raw materials plus direct labor, billed at $45 per hour, plus 35% for studio and administrative overhead.
This ensures fair wages, covers the unseen costs of running a sustainable studio, and reflects the time and care that go into every step of the process — from thrifting and sourcing to fittings and final hand-finishing.
